![]() ![]() Rehorek's iceberg does look very similar to the rock of Gibraltar and with a little imagination- could be seen as a real life version of the interpretation of the artist sketching Scarrott's description. Now, Scarrott had his iceberg sketched as well aboard Carpathia. We have a corroborating source from a passenger aboard the Bremen, Stephen Rehorek, who took a picture of an iceberg in the area as the Bremen passed through Titanic debris. Our best source is Joe Scarrott, who describes the berg as the same shape as the rock of Gibraltar with two peaks. He may have felt comfortable relinquishing this small bit of legitimate info, but we have to keep in mind that he's hedging and dodging the whole time. Fleet's testimony, unfortunately, has to be taken with a wheelbarrow full of salt because he refused to answer any questions at the initial Senate Inquiry- so much so that the committee was growing frustrated with his obstinance. Our reasoning behind this is because we have both testimony describing it's shape and even a sketch drawn by Fred Fleet- none of which match this mystery photograph.īoth Fleet and Boxhall testify that the iceberg wasn't very big- slightly taller than the forecastle deck withe estimates between 30-50 feet. So, we've had a few photographs of the the supposed culprit but we are pretty sure this isn't it :).
